There are no translations available. ![]() With a beautiful view over our sea, or our Tromsøysund, I want to create a possible meeting place for a few days during SEAS. It is an invitation to sit on each others benches and listen to each others views and stories.” Arvid Sveen, June 2009 Arvid Sveen is a painter, photographer and graphic designer. He has had solo exhibitions in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and the Faroe Islands. His photographs have been bought by The Art Museum of Northern Norway, The Sami Collections, Arts Council Norway and Kemi Arts Museum in Finland amongst others. Sveen has made several beautiful art books, such as Tinden- Portretter that is based on photographs of this important mountain. The photographs have the same viewpoint and are taken from exactly the same spot throughout the year. Sveen’s benches can be seen as metaphors for the SEAS project as a whole; a bench is a meeting place, a retreat, a place of rest, reflection and memorable experiences. The placement of a bench is never random. This little place on the edge of the quay, "hurtigbåtkaia", can be perceived as insignificant by some, but may hold special memories for others, or it can be fertile ground for new memories during SEAS TROMSØ. The project is comissioned by Tromsø Kunstforening info from tromseas.no |
