Statue of Hakoon VII in front of City Hall in Tromsø

Hakoon VII Haakon VII (born August 3, 1872 death September 21, 1957) was king of Norway from 1905 to 1957. He was baptized Christian Frederik Carl Georg Valdemar Axel, but went under the name of Carl and the prince of Denmark. He married 22 July 1896 with his kusine Maud Charlotte Mary Victoria of Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha, Princess of Great Britain and Ireland (born November 26, 1869, death November 20, 1938). He belonged to the first house of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Prince Carl was the son of King Frederik VIII of Denmark and Princess Lovisa of Sweden, brother of Christian X of Denmark, the son of Christian IX of Denmark. He changed its name to Haakon when he was elected king of Norway after the union. Haakon VII was the king before the father and the older brother became kings of Denmark. He was succeeded by his son Olav V after his death.

Midnight Sun seen from Fjellheisen (Cable Car) 360 degree panorama Tromsø
Fjellheisen - is a Tromsø cable car, it takes you up for about 420m m.o.h. in just few minutes from easily accesible from city center by bus 26 (stop Fjellheisen), in summer you can buy combined ticket for bus and cable car at bus driver. Lower station located at 50 m.o.h. From the upper deck (Fjellstua) you can enjoy the great panoramic view of Tromsøya island, with mountains on Kvaløya in the background. For tourists/hikers looking for even more interesting view there is easy to get and not very steep path going thru Storsteinen 487 m.o.h., Fløya 671 m.o.h. to Bønntuva 776 m.o.h.

Top of Tromsdalstind 360 degree panorama

Tromsdalstind (Tromsdalstinden) is a highest peak around Tromsø. Altough its 1236 meter high, its quite easy to reach in summer, or just moderate in winter. From the top you can see: in western direction island Tromsøya on which city is located in the background mountains on Kvaløya island, in southern direction you can see smaller peaks on both sides of Balfjord, in eastern spectacular panorama of Lyngen Alps with highest peak in Troms county
